How to Consign
When can I consign my items?
We schedule walk-in days for consignment on a weekly basis, based on our space and availability. When we schedule consignment days, they will be Friday and/or Saturday, during the hours of 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. HOWEVER, there are weeks when we cannot accept consignments due to our space, so please call the store or check Facebook for our weekly schedule. We also may only be taking certain items (ex. household items only), so check our schedule for that as well. Please keep in mind that in certain times of the year we may need to limit the amount of items you can bring in due to supply and demand.
What to expect when I consign with The Chick…
Upon arrival, we require that consignors leave their items in their vehicle. Consignors must come into the store first and sign in for their consignment (our consignment area is located at the back of the store). Please be aware that there may be a long wait time to consign your items. Wait time is unpredictable and we ask for you patience. You can shop or run errands while you wait for your turn. Once it’s your turn on the list to consign, staff will inform you to bring in your items through our back door entrance. Consignors will begin their consignment by filling out a contract with us. Information, such as your name, address, and phone number will be entered into our system under a unique number for each new consignor. While this information is collected, staff will begin to sort through your consignment. Items that are accepted for consignment will enter our storage and then logged into our system under your consignment account within the next few weeks. Any items we do not accept for consignment are given back to you at this time.
How long do my items remain on consignment?
Our consignment period is 60 days from when we log your items. After we log your consignment you will be called and given a specific date of when your consigned items will expire. It is the responsibility of the consignor to keep track of this date. If you would like to pick up any unsold items, you must be at the store on this date or any day before to ensure your items do not go to donation. Staff will inform you of what items remain for pick up and consignors must find their unsold items on the floor. You may also choose to donate your unsold items to charity. This means that you do not have to be back to the store by your expiration date. Your unsold items will automatically be donated. The charity of choice is solely up to the discretion of The Consignment Chick.
How much do I earn when my items sell?
At The Consignment Chick, we use a graduated scale to pay consignors.
- If your item sells between $1.00 to $49.99, you earn 40% of the selling price.
- If your item sells between $50.00 to $99.99, you earn 50% of the selling price.
- If your item sells between $100.00 and $199.99, you earn 60% of the selling price.
- If your items sells for over $200.00, you earn 70% of the selling price.
When can I collect the money I made selling my items?
As soon as an item of yours sells, the money owed will go into your account. You can build your balance up for as long as you want before cashing it out. If The Consignment Chick owes you under $20.00, you will be paid in cash. If you are owed $20.00 or more, you will be paid by a check. You may also leave your accruing money in your account and use it towards shopping at the store. It is up to the consignor to check in with us on their balance. However, the accruing money in your account never expires.
