How Consignment Works The Consignment Chick

When can I consign my items?

We accept walk-in consignments on a first come first serve basis on Tuesdays,  Fridays and Saturdays during the hours of 9:00 until 3:00 p.m. We require consignors to leave their items they wish to consign in their vehicles upon their arrival at the store. Consignors must come into the store first and sign in for their consignment (our consignment area is located at the back of the store). Once it’s your turn in the que to consign, staff will inform you to bring in your items through our back door entrance. One important thing to mention about when you can consign items at The Chick. There are times when we can not accept any items for various reasons. We suggest you call the day you want to consign to ensure we are accepting items that day.

What to expect when I consign with The Chick…

First time consignors will begin their consignment by filling out a contract with us. Information, such as your name, address and phone number will be entered into our system under a unique number for each new consignor. Once this information is collected, staff will begin to sort through your consignment. Items that are accepted for consignment will be entered into our system under your consignment number. Any items we do not accept for consignment are given back to you at this time. Please be aware that there may be a long wait time to consign your items. Wait time is unpredictable and we ask for you patience. Please also keep in mind that in certain times of the year we may need to limit the amount of items you can bring in due to supply and demand.

How long do my items remain on consignment?

Our consignment period is 60 days. At the time of your consignment you will be given a specific date of when your consigned items will expire. It is the responsibility of the consignor to keep track of this date. If you would like to pick up any unsold items, you must be at the store on this date or any day before to ensure your items do not go to donation. Staff will inform you of what items remain for pick up and consignors must find their unsold items on the floor. You may also choose to donate your unsold items to charity. This means that you do not have to be back to the store by your expiration date. Your unsold items will automatically be donated. The charity of choice is solely up to the discretion of The Consignment Chick.

How much do I earn when my items sell?

At The Consignment Chick, we use a graduated scale to pay consignors. If your item sells between $1.00 to $49.99, you earn 40% of the selling price. For example, if you sell an item for $8.00 at the store, you will earn $3.20. If an item sells between $50.00 to $99.99, it’s a 50/50 split between the consignor and the store. Items that sell between $100.00 and $199.99 is a 60/40 split, with consignors earning 60% of the selling price. And finally, for items that sell for over $200.00, consignors earn 70% of the selling price.

When can I collect the money I made selling my items?

As soon as an item of yours sells, you can collect your money owed. If The Consignment Chick owes you under $20.00, you will be paid in cash. If you are owed $20.00 or more, you will be paid by a check. You may also leave your accruing money on your account and use it towards a future purchase at the store. Two things are important to note about the money on your account. 1., The accruing money on your account never expires and 2., The Consignment Chick does not inform consignors of money owed. It is up to the discretion of the consignor to check on their account to see if money is owed.
